Living the Good Life - with Liz and Malc

We are Liz and Malc Frost a married couple living in sunny Hawke's Bay on the east coast of New Zealand's north island. After a recent extended trip to the UK and Europe backpacking, we came to realise how little we actually need in order to live comfortably and eat well, dining on local seasonal foods.

On our return to New Zealand we decided to try to manage only working part time jobs and living as well as we can off our quarter acre section. The more we grow, the cheaper our food bill is and we're saving on our carbon miles. Our food doesn't travel hundreds of miles from grower to table.....just a matter of a few feet.

Our food is grown under organic principles, meaning no synthetic pesticides or herbicides and we take care of the soil and produce wholesome homegrown produce - which is grown for taste, not for looks or long shelf life like in the supermarket. We aim to reduce waste, recycle, upcycle and compost the rest.  We want to become as self sufficient, or maybe I should say self reliant, as we can.
